An amazing local dive with wonderful customer service and great food! We had the fish and chips and prawns, all of which were AMAZING!!! Cooked perfectly; just the right amount of breading, fresh taste, and not greasy at all. Plus the french fries, coleslaw and sauces were excellent with nice portion sizes - overall great bang for your buck! If you're anywhere near long beach this place is more than worth the trip :D

Went up with my younger brother. Got the fish and chips and they were so good I brought my dad the next time. Got the prawn basket and it was fantastic. 10/10, well worth driving 3 hours from home for a piece of fish.

The prawns were lightly breaded and so delicious . Great mixed drink and the salad was great as well.

Update: This is a nice little bar, clean and the drinks are good. We had the burger and it was huge and delicious and kept us going for the whole day. This is the place to go if you want a really good juicy burger. We just had the prawn basket, absolutely delicious perfectly made delicious and juicy, huge portion. My wife and I shared it and we were both full, a must stop! Sorry forgot to take a picture.

This is easily the best seafood I’ve had. We were especially fortunate to come when they had half-shelved oysters available as a special, and they were the BIGGEST oysters I’d ever had in my life. My partner got the crab cakes - we both agreed that they were the best crab cakes we’d ever eaten. I got the steamed clams and literally dipped salad leaves into the sauce because it was so good. According to the bartender, all the seafood is fresh and it definitely tastes like it. They were also so friendly and charming. What’s most unique is that by all accounts, this is a dive bar frozen in time. You walk in and there’s no frills, just find a seat. When they can, the bartender will get to ya or you can take it upon yourself to order at the bar. And if you’re lucky, a local like Earl will decide to play the piano for everyone before he has to head back to work. This is a spot we’ll be dreaming about for a while!

The food & service is excellent. Lots of locals and RV travelers. A bit rustic around the edges. Bar is in the dining room so expect some loud colorful conversations. Other times quiet. Part of the charm. The best potato salad ever eaten. Beautiful salads. Fall off the bone delicious pork ribs. Crab quiche is excellent. I could go down the menu. Never had a bad breakfast or lunch which are the times we go. Good parking. Live music.

Raegan was our bartender! She offered us a warm greeting, great drink knowledge and took the time to tell us about the menu! She told us that everything was fresh and I would say that is an understatement! Honestly the food quality exceded some of the sea food restaurants we ate at and the service was unrivaled. So delicious and such a great experience as a customer! Thank you to the old fishtrap and to Raegan! We will be back!

Wow! I'm torn. Write an amazing review and reveal a hidden secret or share with the world that this establishment is the epitome of "don't judge a book by its cover." Obviously I can't help but choose the latter. Driving up we were concerned that Yelp had possibly catfished us and started wondering if maybe we should cross the street to the other restaurant. So glad we stayed on our side of the road. The Old Fishtrap did not disappoint. From service to food they were A. I ordered a Bloody Mary and WOWZERS! It was delicious. Next was their Clam Special. Special it was indeed. Just check out my pictures. Sooooo many clams. We then ordered their Panko Breaded Fish and Chips and Shrimp and Chips. YUMMY! We pretty much had to roll ourselves out. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. It's a dive we will definitely return to.
